RFID tags offer retailers a wealth of benefits that are becoming increasingly important in this highly competitive sector. Retail applications demand excellent performance, reliability and – in many cases – a compact form factor from the applied tags. Smartrac's all-new RAIN RFID Eagle tags satisfy all these demands.
For retailers and brands as for other industries, the performance and reliability of RFID tags is assessed by the RFID Lab at Auburn University and its ARC testing program. Therefore, it is a distinction that Smartrac’s Eagle inlays and tags passed ARC categories A, B, C, D, F, G, I, K, M, and Q despite its extra-small size: as of January 2019, this new RAIN RFID (UHF) product is the smallest retail-orientated inlay with global performance available on the market to pass all these categories.
Easy conversion for end-application usage
In the case of Eagle inlays and tags, “small” means 44 x 28 mm / 1.7 x 1.1 in, a compact size that makes the Eagle the smallest global RAIN RFID inlays for retail applications and allows easy conversion for end-application usage. Customers can order Eagle in dry and paper-tag delivery formats.
Performance is also related to the chip that is used, and Eagle certainly excels in that respect as well, since it comes with NXP’s latest UCODE 8 IC. This chip shares memory size and typical IC features with the widely used and proven NXP UCODE 7 IC. Furthermore, UCODE 8 features an automatic adjustment function (SELF ADJUST) that optimizes the chip’s sensitivity to gain maximum performance in different environments. This optimization is performed at startup and is enabled in the default chip configuration as delivered by NXP. Furthermore, the chip has an integrated Brand Identifier function to prove product authenticity, and a memory safeguard system to protect business data.
